Two officers were wounded at the Fort Hamilton Parkway subway station in Brooklyn.
Three New York City police officers were wounded in two separate shootings in the Bronx and Brooklyn on Thursday night, the authorities said.
In the later shooting, just after 7:30 p.m., two on-duty city transit officers were shot at the Fort Hamilton Parkway subway station at 62nd Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Brooklyn. One of the officers, shot in the leg, was taken to Lutheran Medical Center in serious but stable condition. Another officer received a graze wound to the back in the encounter, during which the police said the gunman was killed. Further details were not immediately available.
Earlier, around 6:30 p.m., four men, one with a gun, walked into a car dealership owned by the family of an off-duty police officer on Boston Road in the Allerton section of the Bronx and announced a robbery, the police said. The officer and another employee tackled the gunman, said Paul J. Browne, the chief police spokesman, and the officer was shot in the leg.
The officer and the employee subdued the gunman until officers arrived, the police said. The other men fled but were eventually arrested, Mr. Browne said. The officer was taken to Jacobi Medical Center. His wounds were not considered life-threatening.
In 2012, the police said, 11 New York City police officers were shot while on duty, and one while off duty. None of the shootings were fatal. In 2011, three officers were shot, and one died.
"This is another reminder of how hard we have to work on a nationwide level to keep illegal guns out of New York City," Councilman Peter F. Vallone Jr., chairman of the City Council's Public Safety Committee, said.
The exchange of gunfire in Brooklyn was the latest in a series of deadly episodes at subway stations. In early December a man, Ki-Suck Han, 58, was pushed to his death beneath a Q train at 49th Street. Just weeks later, on Dec. 27, another man, Sunando Sen, 46, was shoved to his death under a No. 7 train at the 40th Street-Lowery Street station. Suspects have been arrested in both cases.
